Do I need to arrive early for my first appointment?

Yes. Please arrive 10 minutes early to fill out the patient form.

What do I need to bring for my first appointment?

Please bring the following items with you:

  • Dental insurance card
  • Identification such as drivers licence

How long will my first appointment last?

It varies. Just consult 15 minutes. Any treatment may be from 30-45 minutes.

How often do I need to visit the Dentist?

You should get an examination by Dentist at least every 6 months with few exceptions who may need more frequent visits.

Why should I visit the Dentist regularly?

Most people do not see a Dentist on a regular basis to save money but end up costing much more in dollars and time. This is beacuse dental problems may not have symptoms until they reach the advanced stages. The Dentist the detect a cavity in early stages and thus prevent more complex treatments such as Root canal treatments or extractions.

Why should I floss, isn't brushing enough?

What type of tooth brush and tooth paste should I use?

Buy toothbrushes with soft bristles. Medium and hard brushes can damage the teeth if used inappropriately. Electric toothbrushes may be easier to use. Replace toothbrushes every 3-4 months. Bent bristles don't clean well.

How can I prevent cavities?

  • Always spend 2-3 minutes brushing your teeth twice a day.
  • Floss at least once a day.
  • Watch the sugar you eat and the foods that stick to the teeth such as lollies.
  • Regular Dental checkup.

Are the Dental Xray's safe and needed?

Dental xrays are very safe. The amount of radiation that a Dental xray produces is about the same as you would receive from a cross country air plane ride.
Xrays can detect few things which cannot be detected just by examining the mouth such as infection/abcess, tooth decay and periodontal condition.

I knocked out a tooth, can it be saved?

I am undergoing Chemotherapy/Radiation for Cancer treatment.

It is harder to control these things while undergoing treatment as the immune system is generally compromised as a result of the treatment. Why should my Dentist be concerned if I have Diabetes?
