Dental Implants
Replace Missing Teeth with Confidence
Dental implants are a modern, long-term option for replacing missing teeth. An implant acts as an artificial tooth root and can support a single crown, an implant bridge or a full-arch restoration.
At Fairy Meadow Family Dental, we combine careful clinical assessment with modern digital dentistry, including digital X-rays, intraoral scanning and digital treatment planning, to develop an implant solution tailored to your needs.
Dental Implant Options
1. Single Dental Implant
Replace one missing tooth without relying on neighbouring teeth.
A single implant supports an individual dental crown, designed to blend naturally with your existing teeth.
Ideal for:
• One missing tooth
• Replacing a tooth without preparing adjacent teeth
• Restoring appearance and chewing function
2. Multiple Dental Implants
Replace several missing teeth with a strong, fixed solution.
Multiple implants can be used individually or to support an implant bridge, depending on the number and position of missing teeth and your individual needs.
3.All on 4 – fixed solution for patients missing most or all teeth in an arch.
The All-on-4 concept uses strategically positioned implants to support a full-arch fixed restoration. It can provide an alternative to traditional removable dentures for suitable patients.
Treatment suitability depends on factors including bone availability, gum health, general health and your individual treatment goals.
Guided Implant Surgery
Precision Through Digital Implant Planning
Where appropriate, guided implant surgery can be used to plan implant placement digitally before treatment.
Using detailed digital scans and 3D imaging, the implant position can be planned in advance. A customised surgical guide may then assist the dentist in placing the implant according to the planned position, angle .
Benefits of guided implant planning may include:
Detailed 3D treatment planning
Precise implant positioning
Improved communication between the surgical and restorative stages
A more predictable treatment workflow
Less guesswork during implant placement
Guided surgery is not necessary for every implant case. Your dentist will determine whether it is appropriate for you.
How Long Does Dental Implant Treatment Take?
Every implant case is different. Your total treatment time depends on your oral health, bone quality, number of implants and whether additional procedures such as bone grafting are required.
Your Implant Journey
Appointment 1 — Consultation & Assessment
We examine your teeth and gums, discuss your concerns and assess whether implants are suitable for you. Digital X-rays and scans may be taken as part of your assessment.
Appointment 2 — Digital Treatment Planning
Your implant position and final restoration are carefully planned. For guided surgery, the digital information can be used to design a customised surgical guide.
Appointment 3 — Implant Placement
The implant is placed into the jawbone under appropriate anaesthesia.
Approximately 1–2 weeks later — Review
We check healing and make sure everything is progressing well.
Approximately 3 months — Implant Integration
The implant generally needs time to integrate with the surrounding bone before the final restoration is placed. Healthdirect notes that this bone integration commonly takes around three months, although timing varies between patients and treatment approaches.
Next appointment — Digital Scan / Impression
Once the implant is ready for restoration, we record the information needed to create your custom-made crown, bridge or full-arch restoration.
Final appointment — New Smile
Your permanent restoration is fitted, adjusted and checked for comfort, function and appearance.
Can treatment be faster?
In selected cases, immediate or early loading may be possible. This depends on factors such as implant stability, bone quality, the location of the implant and your individual treatment plan. Your dentist will discuss the most appropriate approach with you.
